The Comets swept their home doubleheader in Monday against Waukon, 15-8 and 5-4, improving their season record to 14-16. Waukon is now 15-16.
In the early game, Malachi O’Brian had three hits, including a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs.
Kayden Blunt had 4 RBIs off two hits, a single and a home run
Lincoln Joslin drove in 3 runs while connecting for four hits. He also got the win as the starting pitcher.
In the second game, the Comets didn’t score until the bottom of the 7th with two outs trailing by 2 runs. Reed Peters tied the game with a 2-run double.
Waukon retook a 1-run lead in the 8th. Joslin tied the game with a two-out single.
After a scoreless 9th, Waukon in the 10th took the lead again off a wild pitch.
Joslin tied the game again with a single. Blunt was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
