CC AM Update (May 24): CC softball wins, baseball falls

Comet softball defeats Indee, 2-1

Averi Wohlers scored both of Charles City’s runs Tuesday as the Comets beat Independence, 2-1, at home. Emerson Bohlen and Lauren Staudt drove in the runs.

Keely Anderegg recorded the win in relief of Natalie White. Both had three strikeouts.

Next: Charles City travels to Waterloo West tonight with a 7 p.m. start.

Indee baseball slams Comet baseball

Independence senior Korver Hupke hit a grand slam in the fifth inning as the Mustangs downed the Comets 7-1 Tuesday night in Charles City.

The Comets are 1-2 so far this season. They opened with a 3-2 win in Algona last Tuesday. Mason City beat CC 4-1 on Wednesday.

Next, CC travels to New Hampton (2-0) for a 5 p.m. game
