On March 2 at about 9:55 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a domestic assault at a residence in Hawkeye. Deputies responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. After multiple interviews, Tyler Norman Mittelsted, 30 of Hawkeye, was arrested and charged with domestic assault, a simple misdemeanor. Mittelsted was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail.
On March 3 at 10 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kevin Duane Hoehne, 59, of Sumner, for a warrant out of Fayette County for failure to appear in court, original charge was third-offense operating while under the influence. Hoehne was released after posting a $500 bond.
On Feb. 26 at 3:49 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on 265th Street near Lincoln Road: approximately two miles north of West Union. After further investigation, it was determined that Elmer Gomez, 19, of Postville, was traveling west bound in a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu SE when he lost control and entered the north side ditch. Gomez was found to be intoxicated and was subsequently arrested and charged with first-offense operating while intoxicated (serious misdemeanor), failure to maintain control (simple misdemeanor), and no valid drivers license (simple misdemeanor). Gomez was transported to the Fayette County Jail.
On Feb. 21, at about 2:30 a.m., a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Hwy 3 and Hwy 187 for an equipment violation. After an investigation, Michael David Hansen, 57 of Sioux City, was arrested and charged with driving while license barred, (aggravated misdemeanor), driving while license suspended, driving while license suspended no SR on file, operating a non-registered vehicle, and failure to use headlights, all simple misdemeanors. Hansen was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail.
