• Girls wrestling gets winter sports started — Oelwein, East Buchanan, Sumner-Fredericksburg are among the teams competing at a girls wrestling tournament this morning in Independence. For live results, click here.
• Subzero wind chills today — Today will be partly sunny, blustery and cold, with a chance of flurries. Temperatures will drop to around 15 by 5 p.m. with wind chills nearly 5 below zero. Northwest wind gusts could be as 40 mph. Winds will slow down slight tonight, with wind gusts around 30 mph. The temperatures will drop to around 5 with a wind chill of nearly 10 below. Sunday will be warmer, with a high near 34 but the wind chill will again be sub zero as a south wind blows 8 to 15 mph.
HOLIDAY TRASH PICKUP — Due to Thanksgiving, those with a Thursday trash and recycling pickup will be pushed back until Friday, Nov. 25. Regular pick up schedules will resume on Monday, Nov. 28.
