CHARLES CITY – Summer may be starting to wind down, but it will be alive and well on Friday, August 3rd, as Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame band Endless Summer takes the stage the stage for Party in the Park in Charles City! Central Park will be hoppin’ from 5-9 p.m. with nostalgic tunes from the Beach Boys era, which will fit right in with the “Chuck Goes to Hawaii” theme for the night.
In addition to the free live music, the public can enjoy a variety of food and beverage vendors, as well as park massages by Rejuvenate with Joy and children’s activities such as inflatables, barrel train rides, pedal cars, KIMT’s Mystery Sensory Balloons, and more.
Expect to also see leis, giveaways and other fun things for families to enjoy thanks to sponsors Schueth Ace Hardware, Stewart Realty, First Citizens Bank, Molstead Motors, Subway, and Valero. North Iowa Area Community College is this year’s “Chuck Chips” token sponsor in celebration of the school’s 100th anniversary. The blue and white tokens are good at both the August 3 and August 17 Party in the Park events.
Together since 1985, Endless Summer hails from Charles City and is currently performing with six of its seven original members. The group boasts a large set list and their experience makes them especially adept performers and a repeat request each year at Party in the Park.
Again, admission to the park is free. Bring your own lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. Tokens to purchase food, drink and game passes may be obtained from the “Chuck Chip Table” near the center of the park or from volunteers in red Chuck aprons stationed throughout the park during the events. Chuck Chips are also available in advance at the Community Development Office at 401 N. Main Street, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Past year’s Chuck Chips will not be accepted.
