NEWS RELEASE

CHARLES CITY – Free inflatable fun, live music, great food and community fellowship are on tap for the second Party in the Park event of the summer in Charles City’s Central Park on Friday, June 15th!

Enjoy the mixed-era sounds of band Exit 113 and come dressed in your favorite attire from the 1950s on up through today (and beyond) for “Decades Night” from 5-9 p.m. You’ll also be able to check out classic Corvettes, watch the Floyd County Fair Queen coronation, ride the barrel train and pedal cars, try your hand at kids’ games, get your face painted or get a caricature drawn of yourself! This night is sure to be fun for all ages! Something else new this year is the Cookie Dough’tique’s debut, as Bethany Bryant makes her foray into the food truck business.

Event sponsors that evening include Mitas, Farm Bureau, Simply Essentials, L & J Industries, Zoetis, and Central Park Dentistry, with Zoetis sponsoring this week’s inflatables, so kiddos can come enjoy the Tiger Bouncer, Slam Dunk, and End Zone Obstacle Course free of charge!

Exit 113 hails from the Des Moines area and offers a varied playlist that features old school Rock ‘n Roll classics from the 1950s, ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, along with a few country favorites mixed in. This fun and wild bunch are the perfect band for Decades Night, and sure to play something for almost every era.

Admission to the park is free. Bring your own lawn chair or a blanket to sit on. Food and beverages are available for purchase throughout the evening with Party in the Park’s “Chuck Chip” currency. This year’s blue Chuck Chips are being sponsored by North Iowa Area Community College, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Chuck Chips may be obtained from the “Chuck Chip Table” near the center of the park or from volunteers in red Chuck aprons stationed throughout the park during the events. Chuck Chips are also available in advance at the Community Development Office at 401 N. Main Street, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Past year’s Chuck Chips will not be accepted.

Other 2018 Party in the Park events will be held on June 29, July 13 and August 3. Those events will also be held from 5-9 p.m. in Central Park and are organized by Community Revitalization of Charles City.
