Bike Rodeo and Bike Ride set for June 2

News Release

CHARLES CITY – It’s all about kids and bicycles in Charles City on Saturday, June 2, with a Youth Bike Rodeo and Family Bike Ride planned from 9-11 a.m. at the former middle school parking lot at 500 North Grand Ave. Hosted by CC Cares and the Charles City Police Department, this free event will offer youngsters in grades K-6 the opportunity to show off their bicycle riding skills, have their bikes checked for safety and get licensed, or even trade up if they have outgrown their current bikes. Organizers have received more than 50 bicycle donations for free trade outs, ranging in all sizes. There will also be a free lunch for the kids, as well as a chance to win helmets and other prizes, including one of four brand new bicycles.

If your bicycle needs repairing, there will be a repair shop on hand donating all labor and just charging for any parts needed.

In addition to the Bike Rodeo, there will be a Family Bike Ride on the recreational trail between 9-11 a.m. that day. Register at the tent at 500 North Grand Ave. for a chance to win door prizes.
