Charles City’s new ordinance allowing golf carts to operate on city streets, will go into effect Friday, Aug. 25, according to the Police Department, which highlighted on social media some of the rules:
- Driver must be 18 years old.
- Carts cannot operate on any roadway where the speed limits is greater than 25 mph.
- Carts cannot operate on sidewalks, trails or off the roadway in parks.
- Carts must have a flag, SMV sign and driver-side mirror attached.
- Operation allowed only from sunset to sunrise.
The full code section will be posted on the city’s website after it goes into effect Friday.
