Decorah man arrested on sex crime charges

On Tuesday, June 13, a Fayette County deputy arrested Lawrence Robbins, 38, of Decorah, on two counts of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a minor.  Robbins was transported to the Fayette County Jail and held on a $25,000 bond.  The Decorah Police Department assisted.   

New Hampton man arrested after crash

At 8:44 a.m., Monday, June 12, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a 911 call about a two-vehicle accident two miles west of West Union on Hwy 18 in the construction zone. Deputies discovered that a Ford Truck pulling a horse trailer failed to stop at the construction zone and struck the rear of the trailer of a semitruck. The driver of the truck, Randy Paul Burgart, 70, of New Hampton, was arrested for on a charge of second-offense operating while intoxicated and following to close. He was transported to the Fayette County Jail.

West Union man arrested for failing to register as a sex offender

On June 14, 2023, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested Tony Lester Hertrampf, 53, of West Union, on a Floyd County felony warrant for violation of probation for failure to register as a sex offender. Hertrampf was transported to the Fayette County Jail and is being held on a $5,000 cash only bond. Hertrampf was later transported to Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

Clermont man arrested on 3 warrants

At about 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, a Fayette County deputy arrested Michael A. Normann, 40, of Clermont, at a residence in Elgin on three outstanding arrest warrants from Fayette County. The underlying charges are domestic abuse assault-injury or mental illness ($1,000 bond), second offense possession of methamphetamine ($3,000 bond) and a probation violation ($5,000 bond). Normann transported to the Fayette County Jail.

West Union woman arrested on drunken driving charge

At about 1:50 a.m. Thursday, June 15, a deputy initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Lincoln and Lion Roads in Eldorado. Theresa Ann Sherman, 64, of West Union, was arrested and charged with first offense operating while intoxicated (a serious misdemeanor).  Sherman was transported to Fayette County Jail.
